BIO BRAZIL FAIR _ BIOFACH LATIN AMERICA 2019 CONNECT ORGANIC PRODUCERS WITH NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL MARKETS

In its 15th edition, the fair reflects the constant field growth in Brazil and the search of consumers for a healthier life.

According to IFOAM (International Federation of the Organic Agriculture Movement), more than 180 countries produce organic products. Worldwide, 2.7 million of these producers occupy 58 million hectares (1.2% world’s cultivable land) and generate revenue of about $ 90 billion per year. In Brazil, according to figures from the Brazilian Council for Organic and Sustainable Production (Organis), Brazilian market for organic products grew 20% in 2018, earned R$ 4 billion and is expected to continue growing double digit this year.

Such a steady growth is reflected in BIO BRAZIL FAIR | BIOFACH LATIN AMERICA – International Fair of Organic Products and Agroecology, the main business event of the field in Latin America. Together with the simultaneous fair NATURALTECH – Fair of Healthy Nutrition, Supplements, Natural Products and Health, 15th edition of the event, from June 5 to 8, in Anhembi, brings together 672 exhibitors, a 33% increase compared to 2018, in an area of 35 thousand m2.

Today BIO BRAZIL FAIR | BIOFACH LATIN AMERICA is the main launching and trend platform in the production and consumption of certified organic products such as fresh and processed foods, fashion, cosmetics and personal care, production and service. Fair is visited by thousands of buyers and professionals (nutritionist and nutrologist physicians, therapists, chefs and gastronome, producers and suppliers).

Opening every day to the public, who can taste and purchase products in small quantities directly from the producers, helps to spread the habits of a healthy life, encourages the consumption and collaborates in the development of the whole chain.

As a result of the entrepreneurial vision of Francal Feiras, which for 15 years has seen the potential of a consumer market worried about global sustainability, BIO BRAZIL FAIR | BIOFACH LATIN AMERICA attracts an increasing number of brands having as a differential the positioning in favor of sustainability.

International
BIO BRAZIL FAIR | BIOFACH LATIN AMERICA and NATURALTECH growth is also evident in the increase of international attendance. Over 30 companies from 13 countries – Germany, Austria, Chile, South Korea, Spain, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru and Portugal – display their products and service to buyers and consumers visiting the fairs.

Two of these countries, Chile and Peru, will have their own pavilions in BIO BRAZIL FAIR | BIOFACH LATIN AMERICA. Moreover Chile, with 10 companies, is in the process of becoming one of Brazil’s main commercial partners in organic products marketing.

In April of this year, the two countries put into effect an equivalence agreement of organic products in which one recognizes the certification issued by the other. In practice, Brazilian producers will no longer need to hire accredited certifiers in Chile to inspect the production units of that country, which will have lower costs; the same rule applies to Chilean producers.

The agreement is one of the main themes of the 15th Forum of Organic and Sustainable Production, when Organic Production coordinator of the Agriculture Defense Secretariat from Agriculture Ministry, Virgínia Lira, and a representative from the Chilean government discuss the topic (June 6 at 2:00 p.m.).

BIO BRAZIL FAIR | BIOFACH LATIN AMERICA and NATURALTECH also receive a delegation of buyers from Canada, Chile, United States and Peru, headed by ABBA – Brazilian Association of Exporters and Importers of Food Beverages and ABIMAP – Brazilian Association of Biscuits, Pasta and Industrialized Breads & Cakes Industries.

Business Roundtable
In addition to the businesses carried out at the stands, BIO BRAZIL FAIR | BIOFACH LATIN AMERICA and NATURALTECH promote Business Roundtables. There are 1,020 meetings pre-scheduled among 115 exhibiting companies and 34 buyers invited from eight states (Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and São Paulo) and Federal District.

Meetings, scheduled to 5 and 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., take place outside the stands, in a reserved and exclusive place. With the initiative, exhibiting companies have the opportunity to show their products directly and personally to potential large clients, with real possibilities to consolidate businesses and open new markets.

In 2018, Roundtables yielded 399 meetings among 149 exhibiting companies and 19 buyers, with expectations of almost R$ 16 million in businesses for the next 12 months.
